Sheringham Museum, located immediately on the seafront of the North Norfolk town, is an inspiring place to work. It has a unique collection of historic Lifeboats, Fishing Boats, Artworks and Social History items in its care. They recently completed a £1.2 Million extension, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, and are now looking for a Museum Manager to lead the next stage of their development as they get to grips with operating the new spaces and the existing museum galleries and all of the potential that they bring.

This could be a great opportunity for someone early on in their museum career as training and support will be provided, or for an experienced Museum Manager looking for a new challenge and an exciting new venue to sustainably operate and develop.

The trustees will consider splitting the role into two part time positions of 3 days per week with one role focussing on collections management and one role on building operations. Please state if you would favour or be willing to consider this option in your application.

The role is varied. It encompasses every operational aspect of running a successful, growing, accredited museum from caring for the collections, curating exhibitions to ensuring that the health and safety of the site is maintained and the shop is well stocked. Sherningham is a volunteer led independent museum so experience of working with and supporting a diverse group of volunteers is essential. An understanding of the HLF grant process and a good record of being involved in grant application writing would also be advantageous.

Interviews are likely to be held in the last week of July (25th / 26th) with a start date towards the end of August.

To apply: Please e-mail or call 01263 824 482 to request a full person specification and application form or to ask any further questions about the role.
